Back on Hold Fast! Crossing time! Off tonight at midnight. 1100 Miles across the pacific. Sailing from Bora Bora to American Samoa. Wind is looking sporty, from low teens up into the 30’s carrying 10 to 12 foot seas. Mostly dead down wind which is not ideal. Will probably stay up around 150 degrees and gybe when needed. Or see whats a good angle based on the swell (waves). I always try to find the sweet spot between comfort, heading where you want and a favorable wind angle. Hopefully minimum squalls. Last boat posted they saw some into the low 50s or Gale Force winds. A little scary but definitely manageable. The boat is well provisioned and Dylan is eager to learn the ropes. This will be a great opportunity to learn on the job. I welcome the opportunity to have help aboard. Crossings alone are tough for a bunch of reasons! I think the previous one will be my last. Just a miserable 500 mile/5 day experience. Having just two hands is limiting. LOL! We are going to sail conservative (reef early and stay there). NO reason to rush it, safety first and enjoy the beauty all around! Looking at 7 to 9 days at sea. Cannot wait for the sunsets and stars out there. It’s simply indescribable and photos just cannot come close to doing them justice. Catch ya on the other side! #circumnavigate #blessed #crossings #americansamoa
