Garlic Salt, Cumin and Chili Powder. These are the ingredients to my dads homemade tacos. Both my folks were in the military. That said we moved around a lot. I have no childhood home or really a home town. Our first move was from Massachusetts to Mississippi. Talk about culture shock as a kid. I am not complaining. These experiences moving about made me the human I am today. Accepting of all cultures, people and the ability to fit in where ever I may be. All useful traits in the life I live. To the spices. My parents added them to my care package. One of my strongest memories growing up is taco night. The unique smell of these spices combined. No matter where we moved this smell was one of the only constants. So here I am 5000 miles from home. I am in this paradise but very far from anything normal. Feeling lonely and detached I decided to make tacos last night. As the smell began to fill the cabin the warm feeling came over me. It brought me back to home and gave warm feeling of nostalgia. I have amazing parents. It’s funny how the littlest thing can have such a significant effect on our lives. Whats your home? #circumnavigation #blessed #taconight #home
